Maid of Honor Duties - Venue Search and Selection
The Maid of Honor’s duties include doing everything possible to try to ensure that the wedding is a tremendous success and runs smoothly. Part of the obligations of the Maid of Honor is to help with the planning and the back stage activities so to speak.
The Bride has chosen you to be the Maid of Honor because she trusts you and you know each other well. Helping the Bride make selections for the wedding and plan the wedding is only natural.
The Maid of Honor should offer to go with the Bride when researching possible venues for the wedding. Wedding venue research is time consuming but can be fun when done right. Plan a course of action and make sure you incorporate having some fun in the plan!
The importance of finding the right venue cannot be overstated – as with everything else, it’s all about location, location, location! The budget and other key factors will impact the decision. Your main responsibility as the Maid of Honor is to do some research for the Bride and ask her if she wants you to schedule appointments.
Scouting venues with the Bride can be a fun and bonding experience for the Maid of Honor and the Bride. Very often the Bride’s family, the Groom and perhaps the Groom’s family will also scout venues.
Venues can range from traditional catering halls to more non-traditional but perfectly appropriate venues such as:
• Historic estates
• Castles
• Museums
• Art galleries
• Public gardens
• Yachts
• Beaches
• Country Inns
• Luxury hotels
• Concert halls
• Waterfront restaurants
• Theaters
• Concert halls
The Maid of Honor duties certainly include helping the Bride pick the perfect venue. Enjoy the experience and take the time to bond and have fun with the Bride.
