Maid of Honor - Rehearsal Dinner
As Maid of Honor you have certain responsibilities at the Rehearsal Dinner and at the wedding rehearsal itself. The wedding rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner are typically held the night before the wedding.
The wedding rehearsal takes place at the venue for the wedding ceremony and typically the dinner takes place either at a nearby home or venue.
As the Maid of Honor your first responsibility is to make sure that all of the bridesmaids are coordinated for the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner, provided they are invited to it. Some wedding parties are too large for the entire bridal party to attend, though traditionally the entire bridal party does attend.
The Maid of Honor should make sure all of the bridesmaids are confirmed and know exactly where to go and when to be there. You need to rally the troops and keep everyone smiling and keeping a positive image in front of the Bride no matter how bad their day may have been or how stressed they are.
The Maid of Honor should take the rehearsal dinner or the wedding rehearsal as the perfect opportunity to reconfirm that all of the bridal party has picked up their clothes for the wedding, and all accessories are accounted for. Also confirm any hair and makeup appointments that they have set.
The Maid of Honor really needs to be on top of her game at the wedding rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. Make sure you are aware of what everyone needs to do at the ceremony in case people have last minute questions or forget what they need to do.
The rehearsal dinner is a fun gathering meant to calm last minute nerves, discuss last minute issues and to toast the Bride and the Groom. Toast? Yes. Toast. The Maid of Honor will give a toast at the Rehearsal Dinner, as well as a toast or wedding speech at the wedding reception the following day.
The Maid of Honor may not be prompted to make the toast at the Rehearsal Dinner, however, you should be prepared to give a toast and even initiate it if no one else does. Typically the family of the Bride gives a toast, the family of the Groom, the Bride herself, the Groom himself, the Best Man and Maid of Honor all give short, sweet, fun toasts at the rehearsal dinner.
If you are not the greatest at giving toasts or speeches, there are a number of good writing services that can even write great custom wedding toasts and wedding speeches
