Maid of Honor - Point of Contact
One of the duties of the Maid of Honor is to function as the point of contact for the bridesmaids as well as for family and friends of the bride and groom. The Maid of Honor can help keep the bride on schedule by being the contact person for vendors, suppliers and guests.
Wedding guests will be calling you with many different questions ranging from the simple to the bizarre. To help alleviate the stress from the Bride and Groom you should try to answer as many of these questions as possible. If you do not know the answer tell them you will find out the answer and get back to them - you do not want their next call to be to the Bride or Groom.
Be prepared to answer questions about time and location for the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, the reception, the bridal shower and bachelorette party. Make sure you know the contact information from the bridal shop, the wedding vendors and all the important players in the big day.
The Maid of Honor will be asked to recommend nearby hotels for out of town guests as well as transportation companies. You may be asked about where the Bride is registered and other details about the big day and the surrounding events.
The more information you have at your disposal the better. Carry it all in a small notebook in your purse.
As Maid of Honor you will also function as the point of contact for the bridal party. You need to communicate all of the important information to the other bridesmaids and make sure everyone is on track with what they need to do. You will act as go-between for the bride and the rest of the bridal party - it may not sound glamorous but it is an important responsibility of the Maid of Honor.
It is always a good idea to keep the phone numbers of everyone involved in the wedding on hand - perhaps you should speed-dial them into your home phone, office phone and cell phone. Your role as the point of contact for the wedding is important enough to do this.
