Maid of Honor - Bridal Shower Food and Beverage
The Maid of Honor along with advice from the family of the Bride and the family of the Groom should pick the right menu based on the time of day of the party, the tastes of the Bride, the theme of the event and the budget.
The menu can range from a breakfast or a brunch, to a full lunch or even a dinner. Dessert parties, cake and punch parties or light refreshment parties are also possible. The key is that the Maid of Honor should make sure guests are aware of what the fare will be so they can prepare appropriately.
Morning showers lend themselves to a breakfast menu which is typically less costly than a lunch or dinner menu. A brunch time shower can have a brunch menu that is also fairly cost effective. Some eggs, French toast and perhaps some spiral ham and a few side dishes is more than enough for a successful brunch buffet. Add a few desserts and you will have happy guests and a cost effective menu.
When planning your menu consider any dietary restrictions of guests and make sure there are options. If there are several guests who keep Kosher or are vegetarian, etc., make sure there are options, clearly labeled, that can be enjoyed by those guests.
Your menu does not have to be extensive. You are better off going for quality over quantity. Make sure there is enough food for everyone and that there is plenty of food for after the Bride gets there.
If you are having a themed event, try to come up with a menu that fits your theme. If you are having difficulty, you can even contact one of our service representatives who can possibly give you some suggestions for a menu or answer your question.
The important thing to remember as Maid of Honor is to do your best to accommodate the most number of guests and do not stress yourself out that there may be a guest or two who is unhappy with your menu.
When it comes to beverages you need to consider the time of day before deciding if you are going to serve alcoholic beverages – also consider that if you are hosting the event it will then be your responsibility to make sure your guests do not drink and drive.
A champagne punch may be a nice addition to your menu, or perhaps just a champagne toast. Full bars are more expensive and are not generally served at bridal showers. If the Bride has a favorite drink such as a Pina Colada or some type of frozen cocktail you can consider having them served, or the virgin (non-alcoholic version) served.
The key is have fun, let your guests know the menu in advance and not stress over it.
